Isaiah 54:13- And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Definition of the Week- Believe

Believe- To credit upon the authority or testimony of another; to be persuaded of the truth of something upon the declaration of another, or upon evidence furnished by reasons, arguments, and deductions of the mind, or by other circumstances, than personal knowledge. When we believe upon the authority of another, we always put confidence in his veracity.

John 1:12- But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.

The Life and the Light

As you may or may not know, one of our major focuses here at FFCC is discipleship. Once people are saved, we believe it is very important to transition these “newborns” into a regimen of discipleship right away. This includes learning more about what just happened in their lives and how to grow to maturity in Christ. This week, we’ve been learning about Jesus as the light and the life of men.

John 1:4- In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

This is a short, yet powerful statement!  If we look at the state of mankind before Jesus came, we can see that most men were headed towards death and the life they did live was spent in total confusion and darkness. However, Jesus came so that man could have true, eternal and abundant life- not having to live subject to death and its cohorts- fear, poverty, sickness, etc. He also came so that man would know (that is to have a knowledge only revealed to him by God) of their identity and what they could accomplish in Christ. Without this knowledge mankind continues to live below its potential.  People cannot see the great things God has in store for them and their families, so they resort to acting in morally degrading ways to hurt themselves and other people. It all sounds very depressing, but that is why Jesus came! He came to restore the light and the life that was lost in the Garden of Eden when Adam sinned.

Make the choice to find out more about Jesus today. Let him give you the life and light he came to give to the born-again children of God.
